At Peristyle Beau West, we have a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) on staff 24/7. This is unique to our community, as nearly all memory care communities in greater New Orleans only have LPNs during regular business hours. Why is this so important? It is an extra layer of security for your elderly loved one in case of a medical emergency or even administering medication at night.
At Peristyle Beau West, our community is outfitted with state-of-the-art lights to give our beloved residents the highest lighting standard. Additionally, our caregivers adjust brightness levels based on the time of day to lower the risk of falls and help seniors maintain their vision and overall quality of life. We ensure all bathroom lights are turned on before assisting our residents with bathing and toileting.
A balanced diet, regular exercise, and calcium and vitamin D supplements will improve bone health, helping seniors maintain their independence and strength. Our bones become more fragile and prone to fractures and other injuries as we age. At Peristyle Beau West, our caregivers are trained in providing a diet rich in calcium and vitamin D. We encourage our residents to eat a balanced and healthy diet, assisting in improved bone health and reducing the risk of osteoporosis. We provide three meals a day and several snacks during activities.
Most assisted living communities are at least two floors, making it difficult for residents to navigate the premises. Our community is a one-story building, allowing ease of travel between the different wings and areas for our residents.
